Apple Braised Cabbage Recipe
As a matter of full disclosure, I want to say up front, I am not a foodie. I fully appreciate good food; I appreciate those that are passionate about food and its preparation, but I don’t get excited about food or cooking.
So, I admit that I am lazy about cooking, I am more of a heat and eat kind of girl. If it involves a lot of time and effort, there are at least 1,000 other things I’d rather be doing.
As it turns out, I am blessed to have some law of attraction thing going for me in that others seem to be happy to fill that role for me. But occasionally I find a recipe that looks or sounds good and I file it away for reference, such as the following …

Apple Braised Cabbage

Preparation time: 10 min
Servings: 4
Cooking time: 30 min
Ingredients
1/2 cup water
1 tsp unsalted butter or margarine
1 tbsp brown sugar
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp mace
3 tbsp cider vinegar
1-1/2 lb cole slaw
1/4 cup dry red wine or water
1 Jonathan apple, peeled, cored and chopped
Cooking Directions
Melt butter in a heavy non-reactive saucepan or skillet over medium heat. Sauté cabbage, stirring frequently, until it begins to wilt. Add remaining ingredients and salt and pepper to taste. Increase heat to medium high and boil 20 minutes or until cabbage is tender and most of liquid has evaporated.
