It is said that Reiki is Love and it is said that Seichim is All Love. If we accept that Reiki is Love, then we can say Seichim (All Love) is Reiki.
But nothing is ever quite that simple is it?
In the case of Reiki, it is two-fold. First you have the Energy itself, then you have the System of Practice or Protocols.
In the case of Seichim, it is interpreted to be the Energy itself. Initially, there were more rites associated with its practice, much like Reiki, the System, however, over time the rituals have fallen away, leaving it as a pure awareness of the Energy itself. And ultimately, that seems to have been the direction of Mikao Usui regarding the practice of Reiki as well. You may disagree, and that’s OK, all truths are subjective.
With Seichim (All-Love) the focus is on Love. There are no secrets, or set rituals, that are required. Seichim (All-Love) is about experiencing Love to a much deeper level. Once you begin to put labels on the energy that is the first step to limiting the energy and how we experience it.
That being said, rituals come into being because they add layers of meaning to experience. Sacred rituals are actions imbued with power or strength derived from the underlying intent. The word “sacred” comes from the Latin word sacrum, which relates to power or strength. So, what makes a ritual sacred is the intention behind it. It is an exchange or action that you imbue with meaning, thus giving it power.
When it comes to implementing a ritual, the most important things to know are:
- What is the underlying intent of the ritual?
- Does the underlying intent of the ritual match your intent?
Bottom line: Intent is key to everything. So, in all you do, focus your intent for that is where the power lies. In Seichim, the power is All Love.
One other aspect to consider regarding this subject is that we may say Seichim, All Love, is the source of all that is. Then depending on our understanding and acceptance of Reiki we can determine if they are in fact one and the same.
Is Reiki, Universal Life Force Energy, identical with All Love, or does it emanate from All Love?
Our universe is held together by a framework of principles, everything is relative, there are no absolutes. Perhaps they are the same in kind, but different in degree — just as heat and cold are the same in kind, but different in degree.
