What is Reiki?

Dr. Mikao Usui established what is known today as Reiki. Healing techniques that utilize cosmic energy have been in existence throughout the world since prehistory.
The term Reiki refers both to the energy, in this case universal life force energy, and the practice which is the healing techniques developed by Dr. Usui during the early 20th century.
Reiki comes from the divine source of all that is. However, Reiki is not a religion, it is for everyone regardless of personal faith.
Reiki is a simple technique for transformational healing. In a typical one-on-one client/practitioner setting, the client would be fully clothed and would usually be lying down. The Reiki practitioner would channel this subtle energy to the client by gently laying their hands slightly on or near their body points.
Distant healing can be done in a variety of ways. As with hands on Reiki, intent is very important. The practitioner can use a proxy, visualization or a projection of Reiki energy (also known as beaming) or a combination of the three. Reiki knows no boundaries in time or space. It is a boundless energy.
Reiki’s essence is pure light whose frequency is characterized by love, harmony and healing. Reiki is an alternative, complementary therapy process that aims to holistically heal. It does not heal any specific illness or condition directly. The ultimate goal is to attain the state of Daianshin, “great spiritual peace,” to regain the ideal state of body, mind, and spirit, and become whole again.
In essence, Reiki is a completely safe, gentle, non-intrusive healing energy that restores your balance. It is a complete healing system for the mind-body-spirit connection.
The benefits of Reiki are endless and after receiving a session you may feel completely relaxed, recharged and balanced.
Reiki sessions may vary in length, and may be in person, hands on (Te-ate), or distant/remote.
